I write this blog regarding the current education system in our country. My name is Hardik Sapra and I am fourteen years old and currently studying in Hyderabad. I wish to share this problem, I and many other people I know of, are going through. It is a well known fact that some parts of the country speak very good Hindi and some parts don't. This causes a line of division between the two groups and automatically puts the good Hindi speakers a foot ahead. This is a great disadvantage of the many South Indians, Bengalis, and so on, who are quite good at almost all subjects but are let down by this. I feel that judging students by their skills in sciences, humanities, arts, and other such fields, is a fairer way. Another thing is that in the coming future, as India makes itself a better developed country in the world, the need for Hindi will vanish and rightly so. It's more important to adapt to tomorrow's world than to live in yesterday's. Adaptation can't come without preparation, so I think that putting more emphasis on other subjects and slowly decreasing the focus we give to Hindi will help us all.
I have come up with several solutions in my head to solve this problem. The first one is that in Class 10, taking the Hindi ( and other regional languages ) exam becomes an option for students all over the country. Either the students take a regional language exam or an English exam. This decreases the number of exams which a student takes, meaning that a student need not be as stressed and also indirectly making the student concentrate more on other subjects, which are more important. It is also a known fact that most of the country still speaks this language and it is quite understandable that we also protect our languages. That's why I have come up with another solution, which takes care of this problem about our heritage and at the same time provides for equal opportunities to students all over the country. This solution is that Hindi and other such regional languages continue to be taught to the children but the children don't take an exam for this. This way the language won't be forgotten and even the students will enjoy studying languages because they are under no pressure to take exams.
So this is my say on what I think is one problem in our country which definitely needs more attention. I would love to see some action on this as it is for the welfare of the future citizens of the country, including me.
Cheers,
Hardik.
